| If the hood is off (or if it is the switch). The pin stays in the open position once car is off (even if depressed) when it fails. Randomly it will work/not work and set the alarm off. It's probably just starting to go bad. Unplug the switch and the circuit is in the closed position (the car alarm thinks the hood is always closed). Problem solved. I chased phantom alarm for a week before I realized it was the switch.
